About Village Homeschool Academy
Mission Statement
Village Homeschool Academy is a half day non-denominational homeschool enrichment program for elementary and middle students.
We hold a firm belief that it takes a village to raise a child. Our mission is to team up with homeschool families to provide a stepping stone for education. We will work together with parents to build each child up to reach his/her potential.
Our program will not only focus on academics, but encourage life skills, independence, collaboration, and organized skills that will help lead the child to success.
Core Values
-
Every child can be successful through teamwork along with individual determination.
-
Communication between the student, staff, and parent is necessary for academic achievement.
-
The practice of a growth mindset will lead to student success in and out of the classroom.
-
Teaching student independence, respect towards others, and communication are building blocks for developing future leaders.
Curriculum
Village Homeschool Academy is a non-denominational faith-based program. While we do not teach a specific faith in our classrooms, faith in God is touched upon throughout the program and encouraged to be discussed at home with families.
Reading, writing, and mathematics are the main focus of the program. Science, art, and history are integrated throughout the school year.
Curriculum used can vary by class. Some examples of curriculum include:
• The Good and the Beautiful (math, language arts, handwriting, history, and science)
• Teaching Textbooks (math)
• Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW, language arts and writing)
• Class novels (differ by grade level)
• Tutors will provide supplemental material as needed.
New students will be assessed and placed in the appropriate grade level for their age and performance.
